Mia O is a South Korean artist now based in Kyoto, whose work bridges cultural traditions and contemporary expression. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from Hong-ik University in Seoul and later earned an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. A pivotal moment in her artistic journey came in 2003, when she was introduced to the traditional Japanese woodblock printing technique, Mokuhanga, during her residency at the Nagasawa Art Park under the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory. This encounter deeply shaped her practice, leading her to integrate Mokuhanga into her distinctive visual language. Today, her work is internationally recognized, with exhibitions, awards, and collections spanning multiple countries, captivating audiences through its refined fusion of technique, culture, and contemporary sensibility.
オ ミアは現在京都を拠点に活動する韓国出身のアーティストであり、伝統と現代表現を横断する作品で知られている。ソウルの弘益大学で美術学士号を取得後、ニューヨーク・ブルックリンのプラット・インスティテュートにて絵画の修士号を修了。2003年には、木版画の革新を目的とした木版画イノベーション・ラボが主催する長沢アートパークのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスに参加し、日本の伝統技法である木版画（木版画／Mokuhanga）と出会う。この経験は彼女の制作に大きな影響を与え、以降その技法を独自の表現に取り入れている。現在では、その作品は国際的に高く評価され、世界各国での展覧会や受賞、コレクションを通じて、多くの観客を魅了し続けている。
